Electrical Engineering

An Electrifying Career...

Electrical engineering is the branch of engineering that studies the uses of electricity and the equipment for power generation and distribution and the control of machines and communication. Taking stock over innovations from Edisons light bulb, Voltas electric battery and Teslas AC Alternator to the modern electrical grid; we can conclude that electrical engineering has been crucial in carrying world economy forward.

It deals with the transmission of information through different channels to enable communication. Major industries that employ electrical engineers are:

  • Aerospace industry
  • Agricultural Sector
  • Aviation companies
  • Steel plants
  • Thermal plants and gas turbine manufacturers
  • Shipping industry
  • Engineering consultancies
  • Armed forces
  • Computer industry

In government sector, electrical engineers provide services to the power plant and their transmission systems. They also have to maintain the transmission lines and power distribution systems. Their major focus is on safeguarding the equipments against sudden faults and breakdowns.

An insight to the near future

The whole world now depends upon electricity for almost all the processes and activities. No electronic instrument can run without electricity and the usage of power is increasing day-by-day. So, Electrical Engineering will never face a decline in job market. Employment opportunities are endless; all one has to do is to keep a track of latest inventions and improvisations.
